Let's play and learn
For decades, a traditional teaching methods have dominated on education field, but new teaching methods have appeared in the last years. One of these methods was play-based education.
everybody knows that play is instinctive, so children would like to play all the time if possible, so that would be helpful whether we depend on one of their interests to teach them. For example, students used to recite the multiplication table orally, but how about making a game or competition ?
let's write the operations on the board and the products on cards, then we ask students to make two straight lines and make it as a relay race. Each student has to take a card (a product is written on it) and paste it next to the correct operation and so forth.
I think we may need to apply play-based educational programs during classes.
The impact is felt on multiple levels: improved quality of education delivered in schools and open lines of communication between students and their teachers. With play as an incentive, attendance rates are improving and children are more actively engaged in their lessons, which leads to better learning. Play is also a chance for students to engage with each other, improving their communication and decision-making skills, encouraging teamwork and cooperation skills, and building up their confidence and leadership qualities.

It is time to change teaching methods, to make it interesting to students that make them interact in a way to maximize their learning, and hopefully as teachers help in building a healthy, successful generation that we would be proud of. And according to how we teach multiplication table, i would like to use this game, it doesn't take much time and make students engaged in learning process.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's what I was talking about, in addition we can integrate teaching with life skills. They need to focus and encourage their team, that what enhance the relationship among them.
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting. Another name for these practices is "gamification" of education. It is very helpful in training students for interacting with others, celebrating winning and accepting loss. I believe students have to be trained before such methods are applied. If not trained for such kind of interaction, they will be distracted by the material and view the activity as a waste of time.
ReplyDeleteI also think teachers have to be trained how to use this methods or techniques before they apply them.
ReplyDeletewell said.. the gamification of learning process is one of the best methods in practicing skills and acquiring knowledge, yet it has its side effects along the way. to overcome these side effects, teachers and students should be aware of their usage by training and valuing the goals behind these practices.
ReplyDeleteit is an interesting idea. as said before it is really a good time to change our methods in teaching we should always make it more interesting and interactive so students can stay focused and attentive. Teaching is not about lecturing and imposing the information on students instead it should be about interaction and finding the knowledge on their own, with our guidance only.
ReplyDeleteStudents will enjoy learning a lot when the teacher use games to explain the lesson. This will excite the students and grab their attention. And as a biology teacher i try to use games during explaining the lessons. Last week i was explaining a lesson about vertebrates. So i use to create a monopoly about vertebrates and i called it Vert-opoly. This game includes pictures and questions related to the categories of vertebrates. The students enjoy it a lot and they like the way i used to explain the lesson. Moreover they memorize the lesson in the class, and i am sure they will not forget it.
